well after the gearbox in my 306Td went bang. well lost 4th now after i lost 5th 3 months ago.
i had to find a replacment quick to give my staff to drive around in.

so i went a bought this. you may know it from here.
doh and fail as i cant upload the pics cause file size to big, no good that.

anyways its the black 205gti that Marshall had.
and i have to say its in preety good nick to be fair, for a high milage its got no smoke from the engine at all, id say its had the head rebuilt at some point. good to pull.
impressive stopping power on it, and not to mention that o so lovely life off rear steer you get with the 205.

inside is clean drivers seats seen better days but what do u expect from a car thats 19 years old. i dont know many 205 gti seats that arent a bit worn in the sides and backs. and i got 3 sets of them :D

Water pump is rattling as he said and it diden seam to bad, but seams to be getting worse so off down the shed tonight to have a look see what it is, we dont want no cambelts snapping.
see if i can make up a hose for the air intake,

looking to get it re-painted as the paints seen better days but that will have to wait till funds allow, and im not going to re-spray it as both cars i re-spayed have both gone to the scrap yard in the sky, so not going to jink it by doing it myself.

Just waiting on me mate getting back of hols to see if hes still got the MI16 engine that he had planned to put in his car years ago, so will get that and have it as a spare incase something gos wrong with this engine.

    updates to come

well i found the problem to the rattling water pump.
It was the belt jumping the teeth of the water pump!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
was vary vary slack , looks like its jumpped half a tooth not sure if it was of the crank or the cam, guessing of the cam.

cant get it tight or set so i think i stick a new belt on it, and tension, think the tensioner is not right or its a faulty belt something aint right thats for sure,

    whos a lucky boy.

also will need a new driver side driveshaft soon, and where it gos into the gearbox the seal is leaking so need to sort that when i get a new shaft for it

Great car, im glad someone from here bought it & hopefully you will keep us up dated with its progress!

Due to a 5 day error of road tax (I missed the 2 year renewal date by 5 days) my 205 now needs to be re-tested! not good.
I reject your reality & substitute my own..

looks that way, tensioner seams ok, so im thinking belt.
I have had it before many years ago did 500 miles after a rebuilt after a cambelt snapped, went to the uk and back came of the boat, pulled up at home and was stopped about to turn the key and puff it stopped itself,
yep snapped the belt again, was lucky that time as well.
eurocars payed for the new camshaft belt etc as the belt came from them even though they diden fit it

    a and little help.

there seams to be 4 bolt holes for the crank timeing mark.
2 that are about 16mm wide, to take the bolts out of the cover.
    1 that is about 12mm
and one that is about 10mm,

now im guessing its the 10mm hole thats the timeing mark for the pin to go in,
but also the 12mm lines up as well.

so is it the 10 or 12 mm hole you use. just to make sure

well it says to to put a 10mm dowl in to line up at about 12 o clock.
its more 11 o clock, but the 12mm hole will line up to as well.
would be easy if the belt hadded slipped that bit as id know lol
