i rebuilt a engine out of a landrover the other day 347,789 miles on it! still ran really well blowing alittle blue smoke but new pistons etc etc etc soon got it running great again! its all about the sevicing! use good oil! genuine filters and keep them clean and theres no reason why they wont run well for many many many miles!

My Nan used to have a MK2 Golf. It went round the clock then up to about 70k before it finally died.

Cant remember what actually broke on it but it just wasnt worth fixing so was scrapped.
