It's not American!! It's an Australian XB Falcon coupe (U.S engine only) , Mad Max the first film they had one car then in the second film they had the same car with a few more mods and a spare which was written off, if you see the pictures of the second car it couldn't be repaired as it looked like it had done a couple of rounds with a monster truck.
There are two guys in Perth that make replica body kits for Falcon Mad Max replicas, and the car that is over here is supposedly an original film car, as mentioned in the paper the car was found in a wreckers yard in Perth. I find it a strange coincident that this car was lying in a wreckers yard and no one had resurrected it earlier. Plus the film was made on the eastern states of Australia not the west where the car was supposedly found.
I grew up in Perth W.A in the 80's and have had many a discussion on the Mad Max cars as specially about superchargers or fake ones. The real car is in a museum in Keswick in the Lakes . Just thought I would put my tuppence worth in.

I think it has the working supercharger as well (the film didnt have a working one, it was all show)! I was on the phone to Martin & Watson in Ramsey the other day and heard the supercharger whining in the background, was told it was the Mad Max car at the bodyshop next door.

    I want one :(

By the looks of the one in the pictures above the supercharger belt doesn't run down to the crank pulley as it should and also has a small separate drive belt, as far as I can remember the film car supercharger was run using a washing machine motor or something like that and had a separate drive belt . After all it was a low budget aussie film.

Take a look at the above pic you can see how the Blower is driven.
The whinning noise you here from a blown engine is not the blower itself making the noise, it's the tooth belt drive that makes the noise.
The above set up is how it was on the original film car.
