I've recently purchased a Polo Gti. I'm not sure whether to keep her standard or go down the Euro look.

In order to get her looking 'fat', whats involved?

Can I literally just put wheels spacers in or?? I want to lower her and get the standard bbs' looking like they're sticking out if you know what I mean?!

    Thanks
    If you fancy it

If you really want to do it then yes some spacers will do it, but make sure they are hubcentric or the wheel will almost certainly be out of true and you run the risk of snapping the bolts.

To be honest if your going to do it, you should use different wheels which are both wider and with a lowwer offset, then run a stretch tyre.

For what its worth, i think its for bummers, as it will do nothing for the handeling or ride a stretch tyres imo are dangerous.

    But each to there own.

smooooooooooooooooooooooth everything possible.....will see if i have any pics of polos from ultimate dub and stick em up.... Nice set of BBS with bit of poke and stretched tyres would look the dogs!

and will guess if you bang on hubcentric spacers you will need longer wheel nuts??

All my pics are blurry as they came off a phone....so are useless tbh...

yeah man that lupo was awesome! i think stretched tyres will be fine to be honest. all the drifters use them and if they dont ping of doing a million miles per hour sideways standard road use should be ok!

Stretched tyres are deffo not a good idea, a god friend of mine works for Pirelli and can explain in infinite (boring) detail why its a bit sh*t, but in summary its a bit like this, if the pressure drops they will pop off the rim, you have no sidewall flex, you (from memory) wrinkle the butil layer on the inside of the tyre.

Either way if your going to do it, you have to do it proper

Thats an expensive looking few mods on that : - )

I've had wide stretch tyres on both of my corrados and they've been fine as long as the pressures have been checked regularly!!

Was thinking of spacers with longer wheels nuts but I need to be sure about the after effects before I do anything!

That red lupo looked brilliant, I liked it a lot!!

It was a nice motor that one, shame its now been put back to more or less standard and sold

If your looking to run bug spacers (over 15mm) its best to bolt the spacer to the hub, then bolt the rim to the spacer, this way you don't end up running over long bolts.

You will need to consider your spring rates, as by moving the wheels outwards you will affect the motion ratio, so the wheel rate of the spring will decrease.

I.e. you will need much harder springs and better dampers to make it work nicely, otherwise it may end up rolling like a boat.
