Sounds like a knob of a driver to give you the finger. No-one should be doing that sort of abusive behaviour whilst they're at work if you value their jobs but if what Jono says is true then maybe they know better.

That must have been pretty horrible to think you were about to get hit by a bus with your little un in the car with you. If it had happened to me by myself I'd have sworn a lot and moved on but if my cherubs were in with me I dread to think how I'd have reacted.

To be fair I think most of the bus drivers aren't bad. I can't ever recall for instance letting a bus out in front without them waving or flashing hazards to say thankyou, which is more than you can say for a lot of other drivers.

I can certainly think of one whose not a pleasant person though.

As for the rule about them pulling out, don't quote me but I don't think they're allowed to just pull out when they want BUT I think you are 'supposed' to allow them out if you are behind them and they indicate to do so, as opposed to most vehicles which would have to wait until there's a suitable gap. Could be wrong.

Oh, and for what it's worth Sarah - good on you for reporting the tosser. Most people probably wouldn't have bothered. I hope something comes of it and they get a roasting.
If you don't like my comments, don't cause me to write them. How simple is that! :)

As far as I am aware Bus drivers have no special rights when pulling out and have the same "duty of care " responsibilities towards other road users as any other person .
    The Highway Code says
"223 Buses, coaches and trams. Give priority to these vehicles when you can do so safely, especially when they signal to pull away from stops. Look out for people getting off a bus or tram and crossing the road."

As a professional drivers most that I have met act in a professional way , but I have come across some real "bully boys "
who use their size and aggressiveness to intimidate others . They have a difficult job often keeping to timetables etc but i believe the Bus drivers on the Island to be some of the Highest paid in Europe and so one would expect a high standard.

Is that sarcastic? Don't bus drivers earn 35-40k?

Their base sallary is not too high, but they do have the opportunity to make it high with overtime, working lunches, shift allownace etc...

I didn't intend sarcasm, I made the comment in relation to Emesde's statement that our bus drivers were reasonably well paid and that that, suggested they they should therefore, seemingly, be of a higher standard.

What I meant was that sometimes you don't get what you pay for. :)
