  • Mongoose exhausts - anyone had one?

Just bought one for my scoob.

I'll have to chop it a little since it's an impreza one but £100 instead of £560 or whatever they cost new ain't bad!!!

Just wondered what people's experiences of them are?
Mate had one on an Uno turbo years ago and it was quite civilised so hopefully this will be.
Mine is WAY too loud with just a single straight through boxes but a couple of people have told me that mongoose is the nicest system they've heard on a subaru in terms of sounding nice, not being too loud, and flowing well etc.

Has two main boxes and a cherry bomb bit in the centre section too so am hoping it will be neighbour/evening friendly! :D

Good stuff mate. Is it ok on volume?

I want something that sounds good when you open it up but not offensive if you need to creep home in the evening, so hopefully it'll do.

Ought to get some stainless wire for the mig really but not sure if I can get the right gas in those little bottles (helium/argon/c02 for stainless migging) as I've only got c02.

It sounds brilliant on full chat! Not too loud but enough volume to turn heads if you blip the throttle :D

Cool. Should be here in a day or two then I have to get chopping it (get rid of conspicuous 4" tailpipe on it maybe and fit a smaller one).

Spoke to another guy who says he's had absolutely tons of scoobs as he used to sell used ones and reckons the mongoose was the nicest exhaust out of all the ones he went through. Is it wrong to be excited about getting a new metal tube to go underneath my car?!

    Woohoo!!
New system came today - pretty good nick for £100 for what costs about 5 times that new!

Now I was under the impression that cutting and shutting was necessary to fit an impreza system on a classic legacy but it went straight on.
In fairness, the tailpipe sits just inside the edge of the bumper so it could do with lengthening by an inch or two on the pipe immediately in front of the backbox box itself, but I can live with it for now.

It's SOOOOO quiet compared to the old system, but still a 3" system all the way through so flows well. Not had a chance to open her up yet on the road, just the odd blip on the drive but I love how it's way more stealth now. I can come in & out in the evenings without pissing off everyone in a 1 mile radius. :D

    Result!
Shame about the 4" tailpipe. It's not as in yer face as I thought, but it just looks wrong on the bumper cutout that's meant for a twin tailpipe.
Can't argue for the dosh though.

Only recently got out for a proper blast since fitting this but it sounds fantastic!

Don't like the tailpipe but I'm very pleased overall, and I no longer have a potentially neighbour upsetting car. Result!
