I had a 96 evo m3 and i use to put part synthetic in and use tesco premium 99 fuel.. The octane levels were better for it. otherwise Castrol GTX would be the best for the car. :compress:

The EVO takes Castrol Edge 10W 60 - Liquid gold. Nothing else is recommended.

    NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!

You should not use 10-60 in an evo, 10-60 is for the s54 and later engines only its not sutable for the s50b32.

There are two oils that are the best for these engines, both are 5-40 weight.

Silkoline Pro S and Millers both of these are ester oils. ester oils are important in the s50 engine because the ester base causes the rubber seals in the vanos unit to swell and thus create a better seal, otherwise you will find that you loose the pressure behind the pistons and this will generally create noise from the helical gears and increased wear.

The confusion about 10-60 comes from BMW, initially at the launch they recomended 10-60 in the TIS (technical information System) this was then revised in a technical update a year or so later.

The evo will require 6.5 liters by the way.
