Possibly need to put my ford focus into a ford dealer to have an issue with my in car bluetooth/voice control/usb fixed.
(I retro fitted bt/vc/usb and voice control isnt working)

Its nothing mechanical - just needs to be plugged into a ford diagnostic system to down load Speech Recognition Module and/or Audio Command module to the radio (Im hoping)

Ive used empire garage in Peel for parts and have not had any problems. Only been down to Ocean ford once when looking for a new car and wasnt impressed - all the cars were filthy and a couple had signs of damage.

Which would people recommend? Does anyone know anyone who works in either garage?

A lot of dealers will tell you retro fitting bluetooth etc cant be done so I dont want to walk in and tell them what the problem is and what should fix it for them to tell me they have no idea what im talking about!

Ocean ford removed the auto locking on our works transit no problem. Cost about £50 though. Not sure they are the most helpful bunch. Have you tried joining a ford specific site and asked if what your trying is possible?? You might even get someone usefull with the software patch and an explanation of what you need and how to do it..

    Regarding Ocean Ford......

The turbo on my old man's Ford Transit stopped working so he took it down to Ocean Ford to get a diagnostic on it being the works van and all that.

Their verdict, "It needs a new Turbo..... that will be £1,500".

Dad's thinking that's a bit pricey so has a look himself.

Upon investigation it transpires that the linkage to the waste gate is broken. Dad makes up a new linkage, drills and taps a new ball joint to go into part of the linkage and voila the engine is back to where it should be! £10 of parts and approx. 15 mins of time vs £1,500! Enough said!!!

A few years ago when the Fiesta (bought from them) went in to get it's front heated windscreen replaced under warranty, when the misses brought it home it was only the next day she noticed a ding in the bonnet (that looked like a tool had been dropped on it). When I phoned up they weren't interested and said the wife should have checked the car before it left the garage and anything or anyone could have put the ding in the bonnet (near the windscreen)! (Nice bit of customer service there)!

They also never phoned me back after I visited them expressing interest in a nearly new Focus ST and what cars/deal could they possibly do. They said they would contact me but never even had the courtesy of replying!

The wife's old man had a Ford Ka that was bought and serviced there, not a great car but hey not my daily drive! Just after the rust warranty runs out he's told basically the car is rotten (after 6 years!!!!) When he tried to argue with them that they should have spotted rust developing within this period and fixed it under warranty they just denied there was a problem in the previous services and had only just become apparent, even though the Ka is notorious for rust!

Somehow I don't think I'll be using them ever again!!!

Bought my ZS from there with no problems, they even looked at the brakes that developed a squeak outside the warranty and gave me a brand new MK7 ZS courtesy car when they had just come out (probs in the hope id buy one lol)

Took my RS down there with suspected clutch problem, they told me theyd checked all fluid levels etc and that the clutch was knackered and needed replacing that they could fit for £390 if i supplied the clutch. I took the cap off the fluid, jiggled the bottle and put cap back on and the clutch is fine.

Hence why I am taking my car to the most highly regarded Mk1 FRS Specialist in the UK for a service (who are also half the price)

If you fitted the module it should just need activating as its an option :-

Started looking at this software last week as I wanted to activate global closing on mine. I will have the ELM327 finished by the weekend and will have tested it out on mine first so I would be happy to tick the box for the voice control on yours if you like?

Funny you mention that, as I ordered the Elm327 cable yesterday - had my eye on the thread on fordowners club for a few months but it was only a couple of days ago after spending days trawling various ford forums that I realised there was the option on the elmconfig to enable voice control.

Ill wait till I get my cable and give it a go myself first - thx for the offer though and if i cant figure out how to re-wire the the cable or get the programme running I may be in touch

When you get it, try it without the cable mod first as some parts you can access as standard. I think I turned on reverse parking warning (think nee norrr every time you put it in reverse) and shift up light without doing anything so you might be in luck.
