Evo X or Audi RS4

Anyone got an Evo X / RS4 or know somebody that has one and would be willing to take me out for a little drive? None for sale on the island at the moment as far as I'm aware.

I have had an offer on my Evo from a member of the Mitsubishi Lancer Register 'MLR' and I am going to sell it. As with my last Evo VIII, which I sold in Feb, really not wanted to sell it at the time as I had a few tweeks, but money talks.

Went straight out and bought another :D , fantastic condition etc. but it will be going. Therefore I will soon be in the same position again of looking for a new car, but this time I am taking my time and looking at other performance cars.

So I have a little list of cars:
Evo X - Not tested yet!
Audi RS6 - Driven one, amazing sound and performance from it's twin turbo V8
Audi RS4 - Not tested yet!
New Subaru - Driven one, felt slow, not sure about them :dontknow:
Merc C63 AMG - Driven one. Beats the Audi hands down for feel and road presence  But way out of my price range :crybaby:
BMW M3 4 door- Not tested yet!
Vauxhall VXR8 - Not tested yet!

Anything else worth considering?

p.s. Need 4 Doors so Ford RS etc is out.

Cheers

Kev

C32 AMG could be worth looking at, cheap cars plently of poke, depends what your after.

I have one so if you wanted to punt it down a road your welcome.

If i was buying now i would be looking at an e39 m5 or an e60 m5 depending on what you want to spend.

Sounds like you're in a similar boat to me.

Finding a local Audi RS4 will be tough. There are only a few and I'd expect to pay well over £20,000 for a local example. If you are after one there are plenty in the UK for between £17,000 - £20,000. Road tax and fuel will be savage though.

Other thoughts in a similar price bracket are the Mk 6 Golf R 5 door, the BMW 335i (3 litre twin turbo, very chippable and much less expensive than M3). The current 5 door Audi S3 is quick and very tunable! I also considered a JDM Honda Civic saloon (very rare, rapid on track and light/economical in the credit crunch). A very good car at a much lower price with 4 doors would be the Mazda RX8 PZ (The prodrive version). The new five door Mazda 3 MPS is quite a beast too. If your very lucky, you might come across a Subaru RB320, that should keep it's value well.

For what its worth I've opted for an Evo 9. Wifey said no to a Porsche 911 C4, a new green Focus RS and an Alfa 156 GTA.

The range of German super saloons over the last few years (C63 AMG, M5 etc) seem to be SMG/tiptronic. Not everyones cup of tea!

Gotta be another Evo, surely

Though personally I'd go IX not X.

Thanks for the reply guys.

A few interesting choices.

I am used to 4 wheel drive, like the kick of a Turbo, but still cant beat the Torque of the Audi V8 which is making me think RS4.

Evo X's are at a price now where I could get one and still afford to do few mods and bring it close to 400bhp.

It will be one of the above I think.

Darkflare - I have had two VIII's now and a IX would not feel like a 'new' car to me. I think that's what I'm looking for the New Car Feel. If people know what I mean.

Shall keep looking.

Kev, just look at how many horror stories are posted on the mlr about 10 internals!!! Forge one and yes, but I'm not sure I'd want a modded one that hasn't had a rod job. If you want a decent opinion about a fast Audi give Ste a ring, he had an rs4 for a little while. Was lovely, and sounded amazing, but didn't last long before it was sold...

I'd offer another shout for the e39 M5. Quick as anything, V8 goodness, very useable and capable cars. Also going for very little money. That will leave you more to spend on autowerks induction kit and an epic exhaust system. Not sure if you have tried one but YouTube is good for info and there is a forum member who has one on here.

Fair enough! If it was me I guess it'd be the Audi, or if you want to be really daft a cheap runabout + Ariel Atom, or if your budget is very flexible, a GTR.
