Last time (or was it time before last....) I reported someone hitting my car, plod came out.

He said "nice car, I could hardly tell it was damaged. I wouldn't worry about it if I was you"

Oh right, yeah, cheers, can I get those last 20 minutes of my life back please?

Police phoned her, she admitted hitting the car and says she didn't see the damage. Wants to talk to me on the phone, presumably to settle it outside of insurance I imagine.

I cannot fault the Police one bit here, absolutely on the ball, attentive and a quick response. Good show.

Aha, there we go. Gave her a ring, she wants her brother to come have a look on Sunday so he can see the damage because she didn't see where it was, then she'll sort it from there.

Great result, finding out the culprit doesn't often happen by all accounts.

I still wouldn't move the car until herself or her boyfriend comes round to inspect the damage, before they accuse you of possibly making it worse?

Also don't accept any cash offer until you know how much it'll cost to get fixed, last thing you want to do is accept £500 and then find out it'll cost more, leaving you out of pocket. Even if you'll get a courtesy car or have to use another means of transport, possibly leaving you out of pocket again?

Car has been moved as couldn't leave it at work, but the police saw it before it was moved so no worries there.

I think it should just be the light that needs replacing to be honest, but yeah I'll pop it up to Mylchreests and get a written quote if she wants to go outside of insurance :)

Brilliant news! Glad to hear that it's going to get sorted and not at your expense. :-)

I'm a "little" suss at the "oh I didn't see the damage" line and they could have left you a note, but not to end on a downer an absolute bonus it's all ending well.
