My car tax is due at the end of this month and so thought I would try the On line renewal system.
Seems to work OK --they say new tax disc will arrive in 5 to 10 working days .
Well it saves going down the Post Office and digging out the Insurance certificate.
(I think it only works if your car reg is on the Motor Insurers Data Base.)

I must be getting lazy in my old age :dontknow:

Don't suppose you have a link you can post to this have you??? I was looking before but couldn't find where to do it. My wife got a ticket for no tax today!! Lost count of the amount of times I've told her to sort it out, but now she's got a fixed penalty to pay aswell as taxing her car!!!

    https://www.gov.im/onlineservices/

This should get you onto the right page. If I remember you then have to register to get the online services . Hope this helps. :)

Dont rush to use this system .
A few days ago got an e mail "We acknowledge receipt of payment etc." To-day got a letter in post (thought it was my new disc) saying "Due to technical problems etc etc we were unable to take money please call at Sea terminal and pay by cheque .
Wish I hadn't bothered to try and save time now -it would have been easier and quicker to use the Post Office . :cussing:

Not sure on this, I re taxed/cahnged UK plate for IOM cherished plate yesterday at the post office, all went well I though until my wife got a call saying that because the retention cert was in my name and the car in hers computer says no. Car now in my name or it was going to cost ÂŁ20 more to change the plate to her name to put on her car.

Its never straight forward with registering cars, be that postoffice or sea terminal :violent1:

The DVLA are definatly a pain to deal with- even the most simple tasks are a pain to get round.

The thing I hate most about IOM TAX is having to pay a full year for a car thats only used on the roads a few days per year....The system needs to be more dynamic. At least the DVLA has 6 month tax.
