    Hi all,

I'm very lucky having a couple of garages to the rear of my house, however, despite my car not being particularly low the exhaust often catches on the ground on the way in / way out due to a ramped entrance.

I've attached some pics to show the situation, a 3 ft ramp from my garage to rear lane, which is also on a hill.

I'm about to face a turbo gasket change this weekend and I'm sure the exhaust catching has contributed to the problem!

Does anyone have any suggestions for improving the situation?

I don't think it's possible to permanently extend the ramp as it runs right up to the drainage gutter.

I was contemplating perhaps a portable wooden ramp of some kind could be stored in the garage when not needed, but put into place when the car has to come in / out.

Any and all ideas greatfully received! :hello1:

make some kind of ramps or ramp to go on top of the concrete ramp so the drain wont be covered and the rain water etc can run underneath it. perhaps ones bolted into the concrete ramp that u drop down so u can open the garage door and then when they fold up when the door is shut perhaps have a catch or bolt to hold them up against the garage door?

perhaps watch thunderbirds for some inspiration. ive got the box set so ill make good use of the long weekend and get back to you

    An interesting one.....
I know a few people in the groundworks etc trade... 2 questions:
1: Do you own the garage & land or rent?
2: Where is the boundary? (im guessing the drainage gulley is the boundary?)

Tempory ramps is certainly the cheapest option, fabricated out of wood or metal etc
I reject your reality & substitute my own..

I do own the garage & land, however, I feel that the ramp already runs to the limit of our boundary (however I can't be 100% of this)

Planks of wood will maybe work, but tricky on a full lock reverse!

Find out whether it does exceed your property and if you would be allowed to put in a permanent fixture but failing this fabricate a wooden ramp use a few solid planks so it has good support and cut it to an appropriate length etc. shoul;dnt be too ahrd to whip soemthing up for now

Haha, my girlfriends back garden is right over the lane from your garage I think :D

If you cant extend the ramp would it be a posibility to lower the floor? Be a lot of (heavy) work digging all the concrete up, but thats all I can think of  That, or make the garage floor at a slight slope as well!

I assume its scraping where the slope meets the garage floor?

Thanks for the suggestions serious and otherwise ;)

It's grounding out where the ramp meets the garage floor.. at least that's the area that concerns me most. The bumper catches the lane on the way out too sometimes but I don't mind too much about that.

I've a friend with some joinery experience who's kindly offered to help me construct a movable wooden ramp... so that's the plan some weekend soon when the weather is good!
