The charade is nearly finished engine sitting back in but the problem is the amount of snapped bolts everywhere are stopping me from fully putting everything back on :(

Therefore, can you please recommend somewhere that will take the car as it is to get all the bolts out and retreaded ?

Or explain to a simpleton how to remove them without making a mess ?

    Regards,

    Matt

Where about's are the bolts? If you've got a steady hand to drill them out a touch you can pinch my Easy-Outs (I think they're either at home or on the passenger seat in the Pug). They look like fat drill bits but are threaded to bite the hole you drill in a snapped bolt, then unthread them. There's a can of Plus Gas next to my toolbox too, give the bolts a good soaking in that aswell.

Have a read of this first: http://www.ehow.com/how_5127433_use-easy-outs.html

    Hi Marshall,

I have a few on the battery tray, few on the wing and one major one on the front cross member which holds 2 mounts for the engine.

The one on the front for the cross member doesn't go all the way through any ideas how to get that out ?

Also what drill bits do i need to buy ?

    Thanks for your reply

Depends on what size the bolt is. If it's an 8mm bolt that's snapped then I suppose a 6mm drill bit just to make sure you don't catch any of the threads, you don't need to drill all the way though the bolt, Just enough for the easy-out to be effective (ideal for the cross-member). Just pop to Raymotors for your drill bits, they sell them individually there. Don't forget though you *need* to drill smack bang in the center of the bolt though, so buy a good center punch too.
