So would this need a SVA test and Q plate or can you register it as either the motorcycle parts or rear axle car?

This will be going full msva route. Can have my name as the manufacturer and whatever model name i like then and also means it wont need an MOT for 3 years. Its the only real way to do it as they are clamping down a lot on shadily registered trike nowdays. Still a long way off from that though!

Pretty much what I thought, because its a mix of bits + custom made parts. So my next question is : how'd you go about insuring it?

Only reason I ask is I do fancy a trike at some point in the future, so I'm following this one with interest!

Same as all trikes really. Any trike that still says something like Reliant etc on the log book is no longer acceptable. Only way you can really build a trike without going the MSVA route now is a bolt on rear end to a bike but these can be tricky to find a good one due to the extra stresses it places on the swing arm mounts that the frame wasn't designed for. To be honest the MSVA isnt so bad. Its like a slightly stricter MOT and if the bike cant pass that would you really want to risk your neck riding it? ;-)

Cheers mate. Unfortunately im sad enough that everything has to be in its proper place in the garage so all tools are in the correct draws or cupboard depending on type and spanners etc are on the wall :D Also have a couple of shed in the garden where i store the bigger parts that i dont currently need ( old wheels, front end etc).

Trying to decide if i should use the ape bars and forward controls or go for a set of drag bars and mids to keep the low look. hmmm
