    V6???? NOT IN MY 'BIRD!

Only joking! I have the 305 (5L) Crossfire Injection engine. They did indeed do a v6 and v8, they also did a very low number of 4 pot "Iron Duke" engines. But you can imagine how a 4 cyl engine went down in the USA in their precious Firebirds.
The Crossfire was the first Small Block Chevy with fuel injection instead of 4bbl carb (1982). it uses two "Throttle Bodies" to spray the Gas in.

The Crossifre didn't last more than a couple of years and the "TBI" (Throttle Body Injection), a refined Crossfire, took over.

There is a 1986 V6 Firebird over here owned by a guy who brought it back from when he lived in Canada - there are some photos on Manx Yanks of both our Firebirds together.

    October updates

    Postby starskyknight » Tue Oct 30, 2007 1:58 pm

OK, so the garage has been cleared out and the car has gone in!

I have received my overhead console (a firend was replacing his) and I have some new buttons on the way to fit after I strip it down and repaint it.

Dash and electronics should be here before Xmas.....its going to be a busy winter.

I'm dreading wiring up all of the dash electrics, I might have to find an auto-electrical wizard to assist!

Even wiring up the car PC, I'll need an amp too, and then I need a speaker under the hood for the scanner sound effect, remote starter......overhead console switches, switch pod buttons conencted to wipers, indicators etc etc......

Maybe I should go to tech and learn to be an auto electrician!

Look what this guy has done.....how did he have the time/patience/skill to do all that?

I hope to have most of the parts here over the early part of winter, so its just a case of how long it takes to wire it all up and mount it all in I suppose. I want it ready for spring, but unless I can find a friendly sparky then it could take a lifetime!

Do we have any friendly auto electricians who may do it more for Kudos than Cash?

I would have thought it would make a good advertisement for someone?

There looks to be hours of work in it, even without re-routing all the cars functions into the console buttons, the basic dash package needs connecting to the speedo, tach, fuel sender, temp sender etc to replace the stock dash gauges.
