A Certain Coach Company!!!

Was on my way in to work the other morning and one of the Islands most prolific coach operator drivers thought it would a good idea to drive behind me fairly close.... and when I say fairly close, I mean WAAAY to close. FFS these coaches are not small vehicles, and should they be involved in an acci...

Re: Proactive Policing (ANPR)

How about an all inclusive "disc" on your windscreen that can only be obtained by having valid tax and insurance?

Proactive Policing (ANPR)

I, as have you all, seen the various telly programmes showing the proactive operations of the RPU's in the UK, and I wonder if this sort of policing would be of any benefit on the Island. I know we don't have the amount of traffic here as they do on the other mainland, but some of the tech that they...

White Van with Orange Top Light

Followed me from Ballacraine through to Douglas this morning obviously hating the fact that I observe all the speed limits. I gave him all the time and space to overtake (without actually stopping) but he sat right behind me, but at the first roundabout at Braddan Bridge, turning right with me, he c...

Keep Your Distance

I think today might have highlighted that driving too close to the vehicle in front is not a good idea, especially in icy conditions. On my usual journey in to Douglas this morning, I nearly had two vehicles crash in to the back of me, how I didn't is pure luck!! I would like to echo the police advi...

Small red two seater

Driving towards Kirk Micheal the other night through the new roadworks (was in a 50mph) and this little read 'sportster' seemed to think that the speed limit didn't apply to them and overtook me while doing 50mph, and the way they took the bottom of ba-garra (Yes, I know, wrong spelling, but you kno...

Increase in car insurance

Been hearing today about the rise in car insurance for young drivers... in particular about a young guy who had to pay well over £1000 to insure a car that cost him just £700. I can see why the insurance companies are doing this from a financial perspective, but surely it just increases the number...

Re: Is this coming in to effect on the Island?

anything to make the driving test more about actual 'driving' is a good thing. Ain't that the truth!... It appears that the current driving test is designed to prove you can pass the test and nothing more. I totally agree with anything that makes the driver think about his/her surroundings and act ...
